I was recruited from India in 2002 and this year completing 24 years of service in NHS. I am a qualified NMC registered nurse, Advanced Clinical Practitioner and a Non-medical prescriber who is aspiring to become a nurse Consultant in Geriatric medicine. Also, an active member of British Geriatric society. Professional Nurse Advocate : I am a Professional nurse Advocate qualified from University of Derby. I am available to facilitate restorative Clinic Supervision under A-EQUIP model which promotes clinical professional leadership with normative, restorative, professional action for quality improvement, education and development. Public Service via Voluntary Service and charity initiatives: Beyond my professional roles and responsibilities, always travels an extra mile and takes proactive roles in campaigns which promote health and wellbeing of the community around me. 1. I am a Dementia Volunteer Ambassador for 'Dementia United UK'. Conducts Dementia awareness session in an around Manchester. 2. I am a member of Alzhimer's Society UK. Every year I take part in Fundraising challenges such Memory Walk, Run For Dementia .Also Organises and conducts Dementia awareness session alongside Alzheimer's Society, UK also works among South Asian Community 3. Since 2018 I am working with Dementia United Delirium Task and finish group to achieve a standardised pathway/ assessment tool across every care organisation in Greater Manchester. 4. I am a Member of South Asian Organ Donation Charity Called ‘UPHAAR ‘which promotes awareness around Stem cell donation and organ donation especially among South Asian community. 5. I have signed up for 'Age UK Tameside Council 131 Club Volunteer which focuses to set up activity sessions for senior citizen to engage them physically for their well being and mental health. 6. I am a volunteer member of a Local cricket Club called Friends sporting club, Manchester which is affiliated under England Cricket Board. I am involved with Club’s charity initiatives called ‘Friends Beyond fields. Involved in their current project is to improve the well-being of older patients by developing and maintaining a garden, who admitted at one of the rehabilitations setting at North Manchester General Hospital. 7. Innovation In terms of International Nurse Recruitment and development : • Actively contribute towards international nurses SKYPE interviews, OSCE programme, Induction programme and Interview preparations for higher jobs. • Actively contribute towards professional growth of nurses from BAME diaspora and I am a Member of Diverse Recruitment Panels Scheme know as Removing Barriers ring-fenced for Black, Asian, and Minority Ethnic (BAME) candidates with a view to growing the Trust’s BAME leadership talent to improve our ethnic diversity Value- efforts to champion overseas nurses • Member of British Indian Nurses Association in UK which focuses on Professional and academic Development of Overseas Nurses. Also supports with any concerning matters among Indian Nurses by joining hands with many other great leaders across the NHS and social care sectors of likeminded Nurses. • MFT Year of the Nurse and Midwife 2020 (Featured in the video and Nursing Journey was published in Newsletter) – My professional growth has certainly inspired many and was very happy my story has boosted the confidence of overseas nurses. • My ‘inspiring journey of an international Nurse’ was published in eBook for Black History Month 2020 she has received excellent feedback from Fellow overseas nurses • Associate Fellow of the HEA (Health Education England) (Since 2020)- The education role of mine is being utilised for mentoring fellow nurses in every category. • Member of a very Active Nurses Group in UK known as ‘Kerala Nurses in UK’ which focuses on professional development of South Indian nurses – I have conducted Teaching session on many topics. eg: Audits and Project, Service improvement and Leadership Quality. Through this group many nurses contact me, work related stress and concerns, Interview preparations, Academic opportunities for nurses in Uk, Sign posting about Geriatric projects and National programmes etc. I could play a vital role in organising the first CPD accredited educational conference for South Indian Diaspora Leadership • Service Development Committee member- Implementation of new Frailty Service at MFT to develop and sustain the service as per the national standards. (Since 2018) • I have served as a committee member for Manchester Foundation Trust Advanced Nurse Practitioners steering group from 2014-2016. Achievements So Far: 1. Finalist for Nursing Times Workforce Awards 2021 ' Best Overseas Nurse Of the Year ,who made significant changes to National Health Service UK. 2. My leadership and contribution towards Indian nursing community was recognised by South Asian Forum and awarded the Best Nurse of the Year (Winner of British Malayali Awards 2019 and finalist for the same in 2015) • The service improvement under my role as a Deputy Manager in clinical setting was led to ‘Manchester Foundation Trust Proud of Award’ in two different occasions ( 2014 and 2018) • My Pilot Project ‘Early detection of delirium in older people’ has contributed to the status of ‘Most improved ward’ and my leadership within this project was recognised by Greater Manchester Delirium Project Team • Since 2008 contributes towards the role of Dementia Champion and an active member of Dementia steering group at Manchester Innovations in terms of Service Improvement • Currently focused on improving the healthcare for older people by introducing robust and evidence-based research. Therefore, I have undertaken a Pre doctorate Fellowship Clinical research programme to underpin the knowledge and practice around diagnostic criteria and clinical management of Delirium among geriatric patients (2021) and looking forward to complete the Fellowship. • Guideline committee member of developing a local guideline for ‘Early detection and management of Delirium’ for older people which meet the standards of NICE guideline (2019).
